Nigel McGuinness, qui n’avait pas lutté depuis 2011, a fait un retour surprise hier à All In. Et c’est pour lui un rêve de longue date qui s’est réalisé.
Celui qui avait dû prendre sa retraite à cause de l’hépatite B, et qui est actuellement commentateur à la AEW (et Ring of Honor), a livré une belle performance lors du Casino Gauntlet Match.
En entrevue après All In, McGuinness a exprimé sa joie d’avoir pu faire son retour et d’avoir gardé espoir.
“What you saw tonight was a long time coming. 13 years since I was in the ring, and 32 years since I was in this stadium, first had that dream that somehow I was gonna be a professional wrestler. There was a good portion of my life after I retired 13 years ago where I just had to put that to bed. You get some things, and you have to just look at the positives, and when we first found out we were coming to Wembley, and that was a possibility, like I said, what you saw tonight was only a really short part of it.
“It’s been a year and a half that I’ve been thinking about that moment, walking out in front of my home crowd, and it was surreal, it really was. I’m still not…I can’t believe it really happened. But show’s over now, and I took my shot, shot my shot, as they say, and it didn’t pay off, but I will take with me a memory for the rest of my life. So you never know how life is gonna work out, and I think if anything, it just proves that there’s always hope.”
On ne sait toutefois pas si McGuinness retournera de nouveau dans le ring en tant que lutteur.
