Priscilla Kelly a rejeté l’idée de la AEW

La lutteuse Priscilla Kelly a fait quelques apparitions à la AEW il y a quelques mois, mais n’est jamais venue accompagnée de son ex-mari, Darby Allin, et ce, même s’ils étaient encore mariés.

Lors du podcast Excuse Me : The Vickie Guerrero Show, Kelly a révélé qu’elle aurait pu jouer un rôle régulier dans l’organisation, mais ne voulait pas être associée à son mari. Elle a évoqué le fait qu’elle voulait se faire un nom en étant seule, autre que d’être reconnue pour être sa partenaire.

Kelly ajoute que la majorité du monde pense que beaucoup de femmes seraient ouvertes à ce genre de rôle, mais elle ne veut pas que ce dont elle a travaillé tellement fort tout au long de sa carrière ne soit éclipsé par son partenaire.

“The thought was thrown around for me to be put with Darby in AEW. Maybe like, “You come in, and you’ll be the wife and then like you get kicked in the face, and he then gets mad or something.” Like there was a lot of ideas thrown around. I explained to everybody, I said, “You know, I could come in, I could do a wife spot, and it could eventually lead into me having matches or whatever it may be. But here’s the problem with that. If I come in and I’m introduced as Darby’s wife, I’m forever by the fans gonna be known as just as his wife. And then from there on out, everything I do in the ring or on a promo is gonna be heavily, heavily compared to him. And I immediately become the Robin to the Batman.”

I think so many people don’t realize, and I’m sure a lot of women would be ok with that kind of role, but me personally, when I’ve worked just as hard and just as long for my career, I don’t want my entire work and passion to be credited or overshadowed by your partner.”

Le champion TNT Darby Allin et elle se sont mariés en 2018, mais à la fin de l’été, ils ont annoncé qu’ils allaient divorcer. Bien que le divorce soit désormais officialisé, Kelly a déclaré à Guerrero qu’ils étaient de très bons amis et qu’elle n’avait pas exclu de retenter l’expérience un jour. Tout s’est passé relativement vite entre eux lorsqu’ils se sont rencontrés et ils étaient très jeunes.

“With us, we realize we got married really young and really fast. He proposed after dating me for four months. That works for some people, but for us, we realized we were not mature enough to handle that label of marriage. Sometimes just the label of marriage can add so much pressure and stress to a relationship. It’s hard to get people who haven’t been married to understand that. Let’s remove this label, and then let’s see how things go.

Since we removed that label of being married, we’ve been getting along great. We are best friends. We hang out all the time. We never have any conflict. We both still have little issues. We are both really young. We are still learning where we want to go with our careers and where we want our lives to go. It’s a lot all at once. I think people need to stop damning the word divorce because it sounds horrible, but sometimes you can get a divorce, spend a few years learning about yourselves and mature as a human being, and years later, try again, and it probably would be a lot better.”
