Une des stars montantes de la AEW est sans contredit MJF. Il est souvent cité parmi les meilleurs “heels” de la lutte professionnelle.
En entrevue pour Inside the Ropes. MJF a avoué être grandement inspiré par le légendaire Rowdy Roddy Piper, affirmant qu’il est le seul lutteur (à part lui bien sûr) à susciter autant de réactions de la foule. Piper lui a permis de tomber en amour avec la lutte.
“Roddy Piper. Before me, I’m going to say the only person who would equal the ability to get a visceral reaction from the crowd was Piper. Piper made me fall in love with wrestling.”
MJF aurait adoré avoir eu la chance d’échanger des “promos” avec Piper, pour ensuite potentiellement livrer le meilleur match de l’histoire de la lutte professionnelle.
“And if I was able to have an opportunity to have promos back and forth with Roddy, and then a match that I know would be vicious as all hell. I think that would probably go down as the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling.”
MJF a par ailleurs avoué admirer son ennemi Chris Jericho, qu’il affrontera à All Out.
