Heidi Lovelace n’est plus pour Ruby Riott

La lutteuse Ruby Riott a été l’une des lutteurs libérés plus tôt cette année par la WWE. Cependant, elle n’utilisera plus son ancien nom lorsque la clause de non-compétition expirera le 31 août prochain.

Avant de rejoindre la WWE, Riott s’était fait connaître de la scène indépendante sous le nom de Heidi Lovelace. C’est également ce nom qui a recommencé à faire apparition peu de temps après sa libération par les fans et collègues qui louangeaient ses compétences sur le ring et tout le travail qu’elle a effectué pendant son séjour au sein de la compagnie.

Riott a été l’invitée du podcast The Wrestling Perspective dans lequel elle aurait déclaré qu’elle n’utiliserait plus ce nom lorsqu’elle pourra de nouveau lutter, et comment elle souhaiterait continuer sous son nom qu’elle avait avec la WWE.

Riott a ajouté également qu’il y a beaucoup d’amateurs qui pensent qu’elle reviendrait sous son ancien nom. Ce n’est pas un nom qu’elle aimait beaucoup. C’était un nom qui lui a été donné par les personnes qui l’ont entraîné. Personne n’a jamais prononcé « Lovelace » correctement. Elle n’a aucune intention de revenir sous ce nom dorénavant. Elle recherche en ce moment des noms mais elle affectionne Ruby qui vient de la chanson du groupe Rancid : Ruby Soho. Même son ancienne partenaire du Riott Squad Liv Morgan lui a suggéré un nom pour accompagner Ruby.

“A lot of people think that I’m going back to Heidi Lovelace. There are a multitude of reasons why I don’t want to do that. I was not a fan of that name. It was given to me by the people who trained me in the backyard. They were watching Raw and a commercial for The Hills came on and they were like ‘Heidi, that’s a name’ and they gave it to me. Nobody ever pronounced Lovelace correctly. Why come up with a wrestling name that people can’t pronounce? That’s a terrible idea. A lot of people thought I was going to go back to it. I have no intentions of going back to Heidi Lovelace. I am shopping for a new name I would like to keep [the name Ruby] if it’s possible. I feel like it fits me. Ruby came from Ruby Soho and that’s dear to my heart. “

“Liv [Morgan] came up with Ruby Reckless. Ruby Ramone was the other one, which is funny because Ramona was the other name I had pitched when I first got my name because my entrance music used to be Black Sheep by Metric, which was on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Ramona Flowers. I liked that name. Ruby Blue from Lola Blue (Rancid song) and Ruby Vandal was the last one I had.”

Mise à jour à 22h38 : Après quelques jours de la diffusion du podcast, Riott a mis à jour son compte Instagram pour déclarer que son nom sera désormais Ruby Soho, le rendant officiel.
