Greatest Royal Rumble: des commentateurs confus et “inconfortables”

Les trois commentateurs en fonction au Greatest Royal Rumble hier, Michael Cole, Corey Graves et Byron Saxton, n’ont pas livré leur meilleure performance à vie au micro.

Cole a tout d’abord mentionné par erreur, alors qu’Erick Rowan appliquait une prise à Jey Uso rappelant ce que faisait jadis Sgt. Slaughter dans le ring, que le légendaire lutteur était… décédé. Ce qui est faux. Cole s’est excusé par la suite, mentionnant que c’était à cause de la fatigue.

Plusieurs autres confusions sont survenues durant la prestation du trio de commentateurs, qui semblaient mal à l’aise à certains moments.

Dave Meltzer, sur les ondes de Wrestling Observer Radio, souligne que c’est peut-être dû au décalage horaire, mais également car les commentateurs craignaient de faire des gaffes. Ils avaient en effet comme rôle de vanter régulièrement l’Arabie Saoudite, qui a établi un partenariat avec la WWE. Meltzer parle même d’une publicité pour le pays et non d’un simple gala de lutte.

“WWE announcing is always kind of fake but this was a different level of fake. They were basically afraid of what they were saying they were afraid to say something wrong. They had to put over Saudi Arabia constantly. I think i don’t know if they were uncomfortable with it, it’s just really hard to say. But overall it’s partially their fault and a lot of it could be jet lag too. As far as missing stuff or Sgt Slaughter being dead.”

“There was a lot of that stuff during the show so there was that it was really uncomfortable.”
