Bien des fans ont été surpris de voir Roman Reigns perdre son match contre Seth Rollins, lundi à RAW lors du “gauntlet match”.
Est-ce un signe que la WWE anticipe des révélations croustillantes de la part du revendeur de stéroïdes Richard Rodriguez, pouvant ainsi coûter au “Big Dog” son match contre Brock Lesnar à Wrestlemania 34?
L’excellente performance de Rollins à RAW lundi (plus d’une heure dans le ring, avec des victoires contre Reigns et John Cena) pourrait-elle brouiller les cartes?
Rodriguez a promis de révéler sous peu la preuve que Reigns – qui nie catégoriquement les allégations – a bel et bien été un de ses clients.
Bryan Alvarez, de Wrestling Observer Live, croit toutefois que la défaite de Reigns n’est pas comme tel liée à cette affaire, même si ce n’est pas impossible que la WWE se donne ainsi un coussin ou un potentiel plan B en mettant Rollins en valeur.
Alvarez mentionne que la WWE aime “semer le doute” en faisant perdre le favori dans un tel match, afin de causer un effet de surprise chez les fans. Il ajoute donc ne pas avoir été surpris par la défaite de Reigns lundi soir.
“I could have probably told you going in that he was going to do the job in the first match. That’s what they do. It has nothing to do with any of this.”
“Now, let’s say that something happens. Let’s say that this guy provides phone records. He provides receipts, and he provides whatever and Roman Reigns is struck down, okay? That maybe why they gave Seth Rollins such a gigantic push in the match last night. They gave Seth Rollins that push so that in case something goes down they have him ready to step in against Brock Lesnar. That may have been why they did that. But what happened to do with Roman? Nothing to do with anything.”
On verra bien si les déclarations possibles de Rodriguez auront une influence sur les plans de la WWE pour Wrestlemania 34… Mais en attendant, Reigns affrontera bel et bien Brock Lesnar, pour le Universal Title, jusqu’à preuve du contraire.
Dave Meltzer croit d’ailleurs que la victoire de Rollins prépare en fait le terrain pour une rivalité entre les deux membres de The Shield. On verra bien!
“Roman’s loss is not just a loss. A lot of the time I get mad when they have a top guy lose for no reason whatsoever. It’s kind of like if you’re a top guy and you lose, it should only be for a reason and this had a reason, I think. I think the reason is that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will be working a program down the line. If they’re not, then it was for no reason.”
