La fin du match “Blood and Guts”, présenté la semaine dernière à Dynamite, n’a pas fait l’unanimité.
Chris Jericho, qui a été projeté de la cage par MJF à la fin de leur affrontement, a confié sur son podcast qu’il était satisfait de la manière dont le match s’est terminé.
Un matelas et du papier carton ont servi à amortir sa chute. Même si ce n’était pas suffisamment spectaculaire pour bien des fans, Jericho a trouvé que c’était à son goût. Il ajoute que sa tête a presque frappé des équipements d’éclairage.
“It was only later on that I started hearing that people thought the fall was on a crashpad and it didn’t look great. For me, I watched it back, I thought it looked amazing. The thing that was really scary is that if you watch it back, I barely missed hitting my head on the lights at the back of the stage. I went so far back that I almost overshot everything.”
Jericho ajoute qu’une telle chute peut être dangereuse car la marge de manoeuvre est mince. Selon lui, si 3000 personnes sur les 1,3 million de téléspectateurs n’ont pas aimé, c’est un petit pourcentage. Il a ajouté que ce n’était pas dans son intention de refaire une telle cascade.
“Everybody in the business knows how dangerous this can be, how terrifying it is and just the margin for error is so slim. Like I mentioned earlier, there is some hardcore wrestling fans that were bagging on it, that’s fine, you have the right to bag on it and out of the 1.3 million people that watched, like I said if 3,000 people didn’t like it, that’s a very small percentage. Most people thought it was crazy as did I.”
“It’s one of those things that I hope you enjoyed it because you will never see me do it again. Ever. And I’m glad it turned out the way that it did.”
Par ailleurs, Jericho indique que ce match devait arriver plus tard dans la rivalité entre Inner Circle et Pinnacle. Mais la AEW a finalement décidé de surprendre les fans.
