L’ex-lutteur olympique Chad Gable, qui porte maintenant le surnom de “Shorty G”, ne semble pas trop s’en faire malgré ce changement à son personnage.
Gable, qui mesure 5 pieds 8 et qui est notamment ridiculisé par sa grandeur par King Corbin, a mentionné, en entrevue avec SI.com, qu’il profite de chaque opportunité. Il soutient que Bruce Prichard, le nouveau directeur exécutif de Friday Night Smackdown, lui a suggéré de livrer sa récente promo sur son changement de nom à sa manière et de ressentir l’émotion.
“The key is to take advantage when given the opportunity. Right before I went out last week to do the Shorty G promo, Bruce Prichard told me to make it my own and feel it.”
Gable ajoute qu’il souhaite ainsi inspirer les gens à faire de leur mieux malgré les obstacles et leurs différences par rapport aux autres.
“That promo, I felt it very deeply. The height thing is a message about overcoming whatever people believe are your shortcomings. Everybody can identify with that. That’s an area Chad Gable, up to this point, had been missing. Now you know what he stands for and what he means. Last Friday was the very first step in that process, and it’s only going to get bigger.”
Gable rappelle par ailleurs qu’il doit apprendre qu’on peut tomber en amour avec la lutte pour son caractère athlétique, mais que la WWE est aussi là pour divertir.
“A lot of people look at WWE as a wrestling company, but at the end of the day, it’s an entertainment company. I had to learn that, too. I’m one of the people who fell in love with wrestling because of the athleticism, but that’s not the only part of what we do here. WWE entertains.”
