La semaine dernière, à Dynamite, MJF a surpris les fans de la AEW en sortant de son personnage habituel pour raconter une partie de sa jeunesse où il a vécu du sémitisme et de l’intimidation.
MJF avait également mentionné que CM Punk était son lutteur préféré. Il était cependant très déçu de constater le départ de son idole de la WWE (et de la lutte) en 2014, alors qu’il rêvait lui-même de faire carrière comme lutteur.
En entrevue pour le podcast 83 Weeks d’Eric Bischoff, Conrad Thompson a confirmé que tout est vrai.
MJF lui a relaté ces faits il y a quelques années, lors de leur première rencontre.
Thompson avoue avoir été sous le choc d’entendre une telle promo de MJF en mode “face”, en le voyait en plus verser des larmes.
“He told a real-life story. It was funny because I was randomly watching it with my wife this week, which is not the norm at my house. And I looked at her and said, ‘Wait, this is the real story.’ Because I had met him right before he called me turkey tits and put gum on my forehead and all that at the kickoff for AEW. I thought before that, we had a nice moment.
“Anyway, he told me this real story in real life and so now that I see it on TV and he’s legit crying tears on TV, it’s like, this is a babyface promo.”
Bischoff a salué le réalisme de la promo de MJF, qui pourra bénéficier de réactions encore plus vives en vue de son duel contre CM Punk, dimanche lors du PPV Revolution présenté par la AEW. Ce sera un “Dog Collar Match”.
Bischoff soutient que MJF, qui a ému les fans la semaine dernière, pourrait générer du “heel heat” en se retournant contre eux. Il espère que MJF enverra promener les fans.
“What a great way to get even more heat is to come out and spill your guts with a true story and to bring all that emotion, get people on your side, only to turn around and f*** em again. That’s where my heart lies. I’m getting chill bumps, the potential either way it goes.
“I’m a huge MJF fan and he’ll be great at whatever he decides to do but man, I hope he double f***s us. I hope he takes that sympathy and has everybody in the palm of his hand and just crushes their souls and discards them. That would be amazing.”
