Si on en croit Dave Meltzer, de Wrestling Observer, la blessure de CM Punk au Royal Rumble aurait coûté à Cody Rhodes son match revanche contre Roman Reigns à Wrestlemania 40.
Alors que The Rock affrontera finalement Reigns lors de cet événement majeur. Meltzer mentionne que The Rock a vraiment milité fort en faveur de ce match.
On peut aussi envisager que ce duel fera (au moins un peu) oublier le récent scandale entourant Vince McMahon, ajoute-t-il.
Mais la blessure de Punk a aussi convaincu la WWE d’aller officiellement de l’avant avec un affrontement entre Reigns et The Rock. Punk devait lutter contre Seth Rollins et, logiquement, Rhodes le remplacera pour ce match.
“Cody was the plan. Dwayne was going to face him later, maybe next year’s Mania, maybe Saudi. Shit happens with Vince and Punk, the Vince thing ends up worse than they thought and they changed the plan. I literally didn’t know until yesterday that it could change and then I was told it’s under lock. But 100% it was Punk vs. Seth and Cody vs. Reigns until Punk got hurt.”
