Il faut croire que ce n’est pas tout le monde qui semble emballé par l’inclusivité résolument prônée par la AEW : Jim Cornette, l’ancien gérant de la WWE, ne semblait pas trop savoir comment réagir face à la présence de Sonny Kiss au plus récent “Double or Nothing”, y allant de commentaires disgracieux et plutôt préhistoriques à propos du flamboyant lutteur.
Dans son podcast, Cornette traite Kiss de “travesti” et de “drag queen”, se demande pourquoi personne ne s’est questionné sur son identité de genre et que tout le monde a semblé accepter sa présence comme “s’il n’y avait rien à voir” :
Sonny Kiss, who apparently got off his day job at the drag show at the f**king Tropicana,” Cornette said. “And I don’t know, but they’re not explaining any of this … the transvestite, or Exotico as they would say at AAA. Did anyone bother to explain why he looks like that? No! They just accepted that, ‘Here’s another member of our roster, no reason to — nothing to look at here, folks.
Sami Callihan, lutteur représentant la Major League Wrestling où Cornette est commentateur, s’est porté à la défense de Sonny Kiss sur Twitter en affirmant qu’il “crache au visage de Cornette” et en utilisant le mot-clic #IStandWithSunny :
