Chris Jericho, qui brille actuellement à New Japan Pro Wrestling en tant que champion IWGP Intercontinental, prend de plus en plus ses distances avec la WWE.
En entrevue sur Busted Open Radio, Jericho – qui consacre également beaucoup de temps à son groupe Fozzy – a récemment décidé de briser un de ses principes, soit lutter dans un événement nord-américain (All In) non relié à la WWE. Et il en est bien heureux, soutenant qu’il y a un marché fort intéressant pour les fans “hardcore” qui veulent explorer d’autres horizons au niveau de la lutte.
“There is a whole market now for hardcore wrestling fans. Maybe not even hardcore anymore. There’s a whole strain of fans of wrestling that are excited about all of these other options.”
Jericho affirme qu’après 28 ans de carrière, c’est la première fois qu’il a autant de contrôle sur sa carrière.
“Like I’m really kind of enjoying this free agency and realizing why do I have to just keep it in Japan? What if I do want to do more stuff in the States? I’m not really worrying about what anybody thinks.
“At this point in time, I think for the first time in my career in 28 years, I’m kind of completely in control and it’s fun, ya know?
Jericho a ajouté qu’il a vraiment du plaisir à ne pas travailler à la WWE, une compagnie où on impose davantage aux lutteurs ce qu’ils doivent faire.
“In WWE when you work there, once again, you gotta go with whatever it is that he wants to go with. That’s fine. When you work for Vince that’s just the way it is, but it’s fun to not work for Vince right now, and have some of these other ideas you can kind of explore.”
