Est-ce que Cesaro est sur le point de devenir (enfin) une grande star et un “main-eventer” à la WWE?
WWE.com met en tout cas en lumière la montée fulgurante de Cesaro depuis quelques semaines, avec une entrevue dans laquelle il affirme être prêt à briller de tous ses feux.
Après une brève rétrospective de son parcours jusqu’à la WWE, on évoque ses récentes performances contre John Cena à RAW, ce qui a lui valu des réactions très positives de la part des fans, autant dans les arénas que sur les médias sociaux.
Cesaro, qui soutient avoir répondu au défi lancé il y a quelques mois par Vince McMahon (“grab the brass ring”, ou en français “saisir l’occasion”) en démontrant que le WWE Universe veut un lutteur comme lui. Il ajoute être capable de rivaliser avec n’importe quelle tête d’affiche et qu’il préfère se concentrer sur la qualité de ses matchs que sur des “catchphrases” et sur la vente de t-shirts.

“Do I think I can stand in the ring with each and every [main-eventer]? Yeah. Do I think I can beat ’em? Yeah. And that’s the allure of my style. I can beat anybody on any given day, and I don’t compromise. Do they have catchphrases and T-shirts and everything? Yes. But my calling card is what I do in the ring, and that’s something I’m very proud of. I produce the most exciting matches with pretty much any person on the roster. Pick any guy on the roster and I can tell you a match I had with them that people can still remember.”

Les hommages sur Rowdy Roddy Piper, qui a succombé à un arrêt cardiaque à l’âge de 61 ans, se multiplient sur Internet.
Par le biais de Facebook, Mick Foley a exprimé son admiration pour “Hot Rod”.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to Roddy Piper’s family. I admired and respected him as a wrestler, but even more as a person.”
“I was so proud to call Roddy Piper a friend. He was one of a kind. A true legend. Rest in peace, HotRod, rest in peace.”
Bret Hart a partagé une photo sur Instagram, avec un texte émouvant sur Piper, qui lui a servi de guide et qui fut pour lui un grand ami.
“I can’t find the words to describe the sorrow in my heart upon learning the news of my dear friend, Roddy Piper, passing away. He was my closest friend in the business, a man that schooled me and guided me throughout my career. In fact, if it wasn’t for Roddy Piper reaching out to help me, I’m sure I would’ve been a mere footnote in wrestling. He was always there for me. He was family to me, a brother who loved me and was there for me through my darkest days. He was the only wrestler to come visit me when I suffered a stroke in 2002. He totally made me at Wrestlemania 8 in our classic match. Passing a torch that many from that era couldn’t conceive of doing. We always called each other “cuz” because we were so close. I loved you Roddy, and I’ll miss you and your laugh for the rest of my days. I’m stunned and the hole in my heart will widen as it sinks in that I lost a brother of such great worth. What a tragic loss to all that knew him.”
Ric Flair a quant à lui confié, sur TMZ, qu’il a su garder des liens d’amitié avec Piper malgré les hauts et les bas du monde de la lutte.
“We’ve shared the ring, traveled the world, maintained a friendship throughout the ups and downs of the wrestling world, and battled to see who was the better heel. It’s almost impossible to express my grief. My condolences to his children and to his wife Kitty. I’ll miss you Roddy. The world will never be as Rowdy without you.”
