Wrestlemania: AJ Styles explique son match

Cette semaine à Raw, AJ Styles a fait une promo concernant son match à WrestleMania contre The Undertaker,  le défiant dans un “Boneyard Match” (combat dans un jardin d’os).

On a un peu plus d’explications concernant cette stipulation. Jeudi dernier, AJ Styles a fait une diffusion en ligne avec ses fans sur sa chaîne de jeux en ligne Mixer. Au début de la vidéo conférence, un fan lui demande qu’est-ce qu’un “Boneyard match” et Styles lui explique. Il lui dit qu’étant donné les circonstances, lui et la WWE ont décidé de ne pas appeler ceci un “Graveyard Match” (combat de cimetière) ou un “Buried Alive Match” (combat enterré vivant).

“What the heck is a Boneyard match? Even I was wondering what a Boneyard match is. Under the circumstances, I think there’s a reason it’s called a Boneyard match. We didn’t want to say cemetary, graveyard. Let’s tread delicately on this. Everything that’s going on, it sucks. What is the match?,”

Styles explique qu’il ne veut pas faire ce combat phénoménal dans un aréna vide, voulant une vraie ambiance de circonstances pour les fans.

“It’s a combination of things you thought it was, most likely. It’s going to be different. I don’t want to give anything away. I want you guys to enjoy this. Because of the circumstances, I’m so glad that my opponent is The Undertaker, because it’s an opportunity to have a different match. I don’t want to have it in an empty arena. You guys are the life blood of what we do. We react to you. It’s all about you. I wouldn’t be anything without you, but we know how to react based on how you react. All this stuff matters. I feel for the guys who have had to have those matches.”

Le Buried Alive Match est un combat typique de The Undertaker. Il y en a eu cinq dans l’histoire de la WWE et il faisait partie des cinq combats. Étonnamment, il en a gagné un seul. Le dernier combat du genre remonte à 2010 contre son “frère” Kane et il l’a perdu. Pour faire plus court, pour ceux qui n’ont jamais vu ce combat, la stipulation consiste à enterrer son adversaire vivant.

Ici, le tout aurait été filmé dans un semblant de cimetière (un faux évidemment vu les circonstances), et avec les règles d’un combat de rue, sauf pour la fin du match.
